Governors
The Governing Body is a group of individuals who are elected, nominated or co-opted from key stakeholder groups; parents, staff, the Local Authority, and the local community. The responsibilities of the Governing Body and its various Committees are outlined below on this page.
St Anne’s Primary is fortunate to have a team of enthusiastic, committed, and knowledgeable governors who work with the headteacher on the strategic development of the school. Together, they make decisions which promote the best interests of all the children in the school. They aim to make sure the children receive a high quality of education that is continually improving. They take an active interest in all aspects of school life. The Governors meet every term and sub-committees regularly meet to discuss a wide range of issues.
Contacting the Governors
The Governors can be contacted through the School Office on 01299 403796 or by email at governorclerk@bewdleyprimary.worcs.sch.uk. 2025-2026 Governing BodyHow the Board of Governors Operates
Governors carry out their role by attending meetings with agendas and minutes which are published and you can see in another area of this website, and also by visiting the school whenever possible, to see things at first hand. As well as meetings attended by all Governors (FGB Meetings), there are other Committees with specific remits, which also meet regularly.

Meet the Governors
Francis Dockerty
I have been a Parent Governor at St. Anne’s since January 2023 and have lived in Bewdley all my life. Prior to my current role as a lecturer at the University of Worcester, where I lead the Primary Physical Education PGCE program, I worked as a primary school teacher for eight years after completing my teacher training at St. Anne’s. I now dedicate my time to supporting trainee teachers as they embark on their journey into the classroom. I hold a master’s degree in educational leadership and am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education, with my thesis focusing on professional development for primary PE subject leaders. I am committed to the children and wider community of St. Anne’s and I am grateful for the opportunity to support the school in providing children with a wealth of opportunities for success.
David Stevens
I trained as a mining engineer in the early 1970’s and later in 1982 did a social work degree. I am a retired Probation Officer and have lived in Bewdley for the last 40 years. I was a parent governor and later a Local Authority governor on this site while my three children attended St Anne’s First and Middle schools in the 1990s. I continued when the primary school opened and two of my grandchildren are now pupils in years five and two. I am also a trustee of a charity and beside our five grandchildren, interested in gardening and going to the theatre.
Jodie Smith
I am a Parent Governor here at St Anne’s. I have always had a keen interest in Education and from an early age decided I was going to be a teacher. I obtained a BA hons degree in Primary Education at Cardiff University and furthered this with a PGCE at Worcester University specialising in Early Years.
I am also a Mum to four children. In my (limited!) spare time I enjoy playing hockey and socialising with friends and family.
I’ve lived in the area my whole life and feel passionately not only about St Anne’s but the community in which we serve and enhancing the positive impact our school has on those around us. I wanted to be a Governor to help support and give back to a place which holds a special place in my heart. I hope that my knowledge and experience can add to an already fantastic team in helping drive our school forward.
Caroline Hall
I’ve lived in Bewdley for 43 years, and 3 of my children attended St Anne’s in the 1980s! My career path started with a History degree at Oxford University, then the Ministry of Agriculture, my husband’s electronics business for a while and 25 years teaching in a Wolverhampton Comprehensive school. We have four children and 8 grandchildren, now ranging from primary to ‘off to college’ age! As a Foundation Governor at St Anne’s, my job is to promote liaison between our churches and the school, and to do anything I can to ensure the school, all its staff and all its pupils are happy, fulfilled and safe. I am hugely proud to be associated with the school again, with all its shining lights!
Laura Jellicoe
I am a parent governor at St Anne’s Primary School; I am part of the Curriculum Committee and also hold the position of SEND Governor. I have two children at St Anne’s, and have lived in the area for 5 years. We enjoy spending time biking in the local Wyre Forest. Professionally I work as an Educational Psychologist and have previously been a primary school teacher as well as a teaching assistant in a special needs school. I am very interested in supporting mainstream schools to meet the special educational needs of children within their local community, and enjoy working with St Anne’s on this at a strategic level.
Richard Rundell
I was born in Worcester but have only lived in Bewdley since 2003.
My working life was spent in the law; I was a barrister in Chambers in London for 29 years before being appointed a Circuit Judge on the Midland Circuit in 2001. I was appointed the Designated Family Judge for Worcestershire and Herefordshire, based in Worcester, in 2005, continuing in that post until I retired in 2016.
I was elected a Foundation Governor by the Church Council and subsequently formally appointed in late 2023. The role is crucial in maintaining the Christian ethos in a Church of England school, which St Anne’s, under it’s present leadership, is providing exceptionally well. My principal role, together with my fellow Foundation Governors, is to continue that high standard.
